Oh 🎵 3,679,40 and 1 🎵

Now, where was we, before being interrupted by one of the most divisive and ugly American politiwockle events, which is far from over. Indeed, what would Kelly have made of all this? But also knowing that he reserved Sundays for fun and frivolity for children and children at heart.

So,  we plunge ahead with our continuity!

  1. This appears in Pogo's Sunday Punch with the chapter title "See See the Saw" replacing the ornate heading "Pogo." Now that it's in its larger sequence I see what Alabaster refers to in "you proved you is a good dentist." Some proof! Maybe he's just butterin' Owl up.

In the book this strip is followed by a transition panel, a silhouette showing R.C. Chile, Alabaster, and Oswart the bug walking away, just to get them off the scene in order to open a new episode with Owl, Churchy, and the kids' tool box. In the transition panel the three kids are saying (one apiece) "Phoo," "Phu," and "Manchu."

    1. Hi Larry! I've been tempted to run some of the transitions and fillers from the books, but it's just that much extra work. I'm going to try to do some if I get the gumption!

  2. Something strange about the way Owl is drawn. Know why?

    1. Ed, if I was to take a stab at guessing (looking at some of the previous strips), I might guess that other strips have been somewhat inked by an assistant, whereas this Owl seems cuter and more defined, as if Kelly inked it himself. Just a guess.

  3. Th last two panels in the second row show him without his hat, and the second panel in the third row (Owl's closeup) uses a lot more lines to texture his eyebrows, right ear, and arms.
