Yonder Behold

September 7, 1969

This strip took extra long to clean up due to bleed-through from the other side, but the show must go on. And this show is a little creepy, 'cause of those wigs for dogs. Notice that Sam doesn't deny Beauregard's accusation of skinning his pals.

No other comic strip came close to such dialogue as Kelly gave us.

Below is a pic of a Komondor, descended from an Aftscharka. One wonders if Kelly had a personal history with such a dog.

  2. Beauregard remembers Aftscharka and Kelly must have remembered that way back in the fifties (1 1/2 decades earlier...) he had Beauregard help Albert to dress up as Komondor in order to be able to get into TV to play a foreign dog (because those TV-people would never let a dog play a dog's part). Walt K. sure got his penny's worth out of his gags.
Once more (but nonetheless:sincerely): Thanks, Thom!

  3. Hi

    > This strip took extra long to clean up due to bleed-through from the other side,

    Nicely done as usual, Thom.

    Btw,
I have found a MAD parody of the comic "Mark Trail". The interesting part is that two of the panels feature a lot of the characters from Pogo Possum. The first page hides them in the trees and the second one have Pogo in the foreground! As soon as I can get my hands on a scanner, I will send them to you.
