Wake Up! Wake Up!

I've had this Sunday strip ready for some time now, but this one skips a week in our current 1952 continuity, and I was hoping to find that missing strip . . . but haven't. I almost scanned it from the Fantagraphics book, but decided not to, and just plunge ahead so that you wouldn't need to wait any longer.

  1. Hmm, Howland's attitude about his pliers is the same as Donald Trump's about nukes.

    1. Imagine how Kelly could have annihilated Trump if they coexisted . . .

  2. Just wondering if this may be the same set of choppers Pogo attaches to Houndog's Seeing-eye Butterfly (in 1957 or so)
    Thanks, Thom!

    1. Hun, them choppers got passed around as a prop to ALL the better comics back then, but Kelly made the best use of 'em.

I'll try to get back on track for posting now that some of my deadlines have been met.

  4. Most noticeable in this Sunday, there seems to be a period in the early 50s where Kelly was flaunting with dropping to 3-toed designs on his characters that he decided against.
