Chris--I know what you're saying, but Albert refers to a bombazine, and the little kid was known as Bumbazine, with a 'u'.
Bombazine is an old time synonym for an umbrella or parasol.
Ya gotta wonder what Kelly was thinking as he wrote that. Was he thinking of his character from 20 years before, and did he name the character that because 'bombazine fabric' was invariably black in Victorian times?
My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.
perfect equiptment for this job-or is it?--charlie
ReplyDeleteBombazine = the little black kid who co-starred in the original version of POGO in ANIMAL COMICS in the 40s! Is Kelly kidding his past here?

Tom,
ReplyDeleteAh, I didn't realize that "bombazine" meant anything in particular. Figured it must have been a misspelling or something.
