Did Kelly ever explain how Mr. Miggle got to the swamp in the first place? He's obviously not a native son; he's more of a New England "cracker barrel" type.
Chris, as far as I know Kelly didn't explain much of anything of how swamp folk came to be there. I haven't tracked to see the first appearance of Miggle, but I'm willing to bet that he just came on stage as if he'd always been there.
Having skimmed thru the first 15+ years of Pogo daylies I could not find Miggle any earlier than June 23, 1966 (published by Thom in his Pandemonia series) He shows up (without any introduction) when Pogo and Churchy are sent by Howland to buy red beads (NOT: beans!) for taking to Mars to trade with the natives.
My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.
An Aunt Granny's toast to you for posting Pogos for us!
