Kellyesque

Here's another handful of Kelly illustrations for his 1947 book, Complete Nursery Song Book. Some of the drawings could be fairly ordinary, then suddenly very Kellyesque.

    Thom, were these illustrations used anywhere else? Maybe it's just the style of the times but I'd swear they were used in some books that were around back in my youth (a long, long time ago).

    As far as I know these illustrations were not used elsewhere. It very well could have been the style of the times, with Kelly on the leading edge. Other artists such as Gollub had similar styles and might have had similar books.

    There's quite a few more of these illustrations to come. Maybe some of those will spark memories.
