In one of the comments recently, Jannes made a good point (one that I hadn't yet distilled, though it was vague in my mind) (and I'm paraphrasing here) that a number of Pogo strips from this time were basically 'talking heads' with their silly conversations, but Kelly's lovely art and way with words, keeps them fun and interesting.
