  1. Thanks for the daily Kelly dose! I sometimes try to read old comic strips one day at a time to recreate the original experience, but it's too easy to cheat and keep reading! I'm fascinated by old continuity strips with their stories running for months and months. It's such a specific format! Hard to pull off, I imagine. Some hold up as stories when they get collected as books, others turn into wild fever dreams of a madman- which isn't necessarily bad, too. Keeping a daily gag strip fresh and funny for a long time is a completely different challenge, but just as hard, I'm sure. Kelly obviously had the mind for it, but it also didn't hurt that he drew so beautifully. This one could have been just a dull talking heads-strip with a silly punchline, but Kelly always made it lively.
