Here begins another sequence that got included in Deck Us All With Boston Charlie, in a chapter titled: "Some Laughs a Day Guaranteed to Keep the Doctor Away --- Far Away" (looks like prob'ly ten strips in a row on this topic).
Actually, Larry, it gets a bit more convoluted of sorts. There's a couple more in this sequence, and then moves on to a part that's further ahead in the book, interspersed with strips from a different timeline.
For the strips, there will be a couple that don't show up anywhere else that I'm aware of, and then on March 1, 2 and 3 will be strips that are too tied to a specific time of 1962 to show up in a book. And beyond that I haven't peeked ahead.
It's good though, isn't it Larry, to see these strips as they rolled out originally? I'm not wasting my time and efforts here am I?
I like seeing them in their original order. After all, I read through your entire "Pogo in Pandemonia" blog (and saved the strips from it) even though I have the book. Hopefully in two years Fantagraphics will have gotten this far, but this way we (whoever is following this) get to see the stuff earlier.
Well, I certainly don't think it's a waste of time, at all! The Fanta' books are great, but they take their time and only reach a niche market (I'm guessing)- I don't think that they are overpriced at all, but they are pricey. Certainly too expensive for the casual reader. It's a good thing to have this on the internet, so people can stumble upon it and become, inevitably, lifelong Kelly fans! So, thanks again for doing this and please continue to do so, as long as you find pleasure in it too... On the subject of this strip: I love that he's just lounging there casually, smoking a pipe and wearing a fez while flipping through Dogs' Life... Not necessary, Porky just needed the word "anecdote " to go off. But stuff like this is as important for a strip as the actual jokes, gives it so much more life!
My name is Thom Buchanan.
I'm an artist and photographer.
People are my favorite subjects to portray in art and photos. My wife (and studio partner) has called that my 'people skills', as I've been passionately creating portrait studies for many years.
I refer to myself as a pictorialist, a combination of image-making and journalist. Images are my life.

DeleteYeah, that's pretty much why I do this.
