Some Early Foot

Early on, Kelly took a shine to his fractured lyrics of Deck Us All with Boston Charlie, and kept shining it up each Xmas season for more than 20 years. This was his first use of it back in 1948:

    They were all manic back in those days. Wasn't there one where Pogo is whangin' away on a banjo and screeching. Lotta funny slapstick back then.

    I haven't seen most of the early strips. I'm waiting on the forthcoming collection (which my fiancée preëmptively ordered for me), but its release was apparently delayed by something like a year!
