Some of you are only here for all things Pogo, but I maintain that I'm here for the Whirled of Kelly, loving all aspects of his oeuvre. Thus here and there I sprinkle in little tidbits of his other works, though I can't recall which comic book this page emanates from (Kelly's comics are pretty well seen these days and perhaps one of you Kellyphiles can share the info in the comment). 

I love seeing any of his many mice drawings.

Never Argue with a Furry Godmomma

Over the years, Kelly cast the 3 blind mice into a lot of stories and strips, even if they turned out to be the 3 bears, and really they wasn't allus very blind.

Even if in later years we loved seeing the variant trees in the opening panels, it was nice to see other stuff in the opening panels of early strips, and with lovely colors no less.

Now, life has been werra werra busy 'round here as of late, which is why I'm late to my "self-imposed deadline" (as Hun phrased it). This strip is the last of its arc, with the following weeks already posted long ago. Golly, I'm running low on my long runs of Sundays. Now, what ever will we do when I deplete the stash?

Now again, sorry I'm late. But I received a very nice email today that I quote here: "You may be a day late now and then, or two or more, but remember you are so good and generous to our little band!—Martin Fass"

Now, that's really nice to think of us as a little band. Thanks Martin, and thank you to the band for playing your parts!

Now, check out that last panel with the old greybeard founder—an unusual reference to Kelly's old employer! And a regular mouse that shows up out of nowhere.

NO!

I have had a loose Pogo image for a long long time, without knowing where it was from or its context. That's the first image below with the big 'NO!', and the little Nubbet Nibble.

Suddenly, the image is reunited with the rest of its material, and I'm treated to Kelly art I have never seen 'til now, perhaps some of you as well, thanks to Samuel, who sent over a link to not only Kelly art, but Kelly's voice singing and reciting the words to this book, in a blustery PT Bridgeport baritone. We can't post A Frog He Would A-Wooing Go without following up with The Account of the Wooful Frog. This is one of Kelly's sweetest little morsels of a story, as fun to me now as when I was 10. The little turtle tad is one of Kelly's many high-water marks for characterization.
